PDI was founded in 1970 by Bill Kingston as Kingston Drywall. In the past 40 years, our company has gone through a name change (to Performance Drywall), finished thousands of jobs, and installed tens of millions of square feet of drywall. In 1996, our company incorporated with the State of Idaho as Performance Drywall Inc.
In 2005, Bill officially retired, and his son Butch took over operations of the company. Since then, Butch has led Performance Drywall toward expanding the services we provide with a bold vision for the company’s future.

With more than 25 years of experience in the drywall industry, Butch Kingston is the current CEO and Owner of Performance Drywall Inc.
Born and raised in Idaho gave Butch a unique opportunity to not only know Idaho, but also the needs of the community in which his business serves. From a very young age, Butch followed in the company founders’ footsteps. His first experience with drywall began at the young age of 5, when he learned the art of “spotting nails” and “scrap.”
Learning from the best; Bill Kingston groomed an exceptional work ethic into Butch, training him with a mindset that, “a job worth doing is a job worth doing right.”
It is the same work ethic that has given Performance Drywall the privilege of working with some of the best builders in our area.
Since Butch took over operations in 2006 and then becoming owner in 2012, he has grown the family business of just 12 employees and 5 vehicles to a company of more than 100 employees and 30 vehicles.
Although the company has grown, it still maintains its small business feel by working hard, being honest, and giving 110% to its employees and customers, living up to its name- Performance Drywall.
